Someone to Honor

Posted by jbharp on June 1, 2007

┬áRecently we celebrated Memorial Day to honor the men and women who have served our country and soon Father’s Day will be here to honor our dads. I am fortunate to have a Father worthy of honor on both days (and all the days in between).

My dad has served his country.┬áHe’s always had a love for this country. And has been respectful and grateful for this nation of freedom we live in. Recently, since I’ve been taking up the responsibility of being engage politically, we’ve had some great talks and I gain more wisdom from his insight. Yes, my dad has served his country, but more importantly…

My dad has served his family. He has raised me and my two older brothers with steady devotion. Psalms 23 begins “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.” This would be an adequate tribute to my dad as well. Not many people enter the ‘real world’ without debt or college loans. This is just one area that my dad has been a provider for me. Yes, my dad has served his three sons, but more importantly…

My dad has served God. His duty to his country and commitment to his family are not unique to the rest of his life. In every aspect my dad reflects a man that walks humbly with his God.
